While Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush played the lead roles in last year’s blockbuster hit 'Raanjhanaa', Swara Bhaskar also won accolades for her portrayal of Bindiya in the film. And now, 10 months after 'Raanjhanaa' released, Swara Bhaskar has signed her next film. She will be playing the lead role (that of a mother) in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s 'Nil Battey Sannaata'. It is the story of the curious relationship between a mother and a daughter.

Raanjhanaa, I was stuck in a curious conundrum. Despite numerous offers, I just did not like any script coming my way and was refusing one or two films on a daily basis. I didn’t want to let my viewers down and also, wanted to raise the bar as an actor. Finally, after almost 10 months, I found a script that I really liked!
Nil Battey Sannaata is based on a lovely and unique plot idea which is both original and curious, and yet expresses emotions that are universal. I play a mother in the film which is a first for me and will present a huge challenge as an actor. I have been asked if I am scared of being typecast or whether I was hesitant to play a role that falls in the older age-bracket. I just felt it was a challenging part and I didn’t want to let it go. I hope I can play the role with ease and conviction. Ashwiny is a sensitive director and it is a great script.”
