Tigmanshu Dhulia: The Shaukeens is the youngest film I have written so far
Tigmanshu Dhulia has been in the news for his first attempt at writing comedy with 'The Shaukeens'. Though the film’s protagonists are three senior actors (Anupam Kher, Annu Kapoor and Piyush Mishra), the screenplay is so peppy and breezy that Tigmanshu says, “It’s the youngest film I have written so far.”

According to Tigmanshu, what sets 'The Shaukeens' apart is its youthful appeal and fun quotient.

“It’s about three people wanting more out of their lives. We all have a naughty streak inside us. The three men in this film go on this journey to explore their wild sides. The fact that they are old doesn’t stop them. Age is just a number. Their wants and desires are exactly like that of youngsters.” When Tigmanshu wrote the script, the age of his protagonists was never a factor he took into consideration. “That’s because I didn’t want to limit myself,” he says.
“Who says that beyond a certain age, you cannot have fun? The three men in the film are very colourful by nature. The situations they go through are what any youngsters would go through, too. But because of their age, the situations become funny naturally.” Tigmanshu and director Abhishek Sharma deliberately thought of crazy and whacky situations, which have taken the comedy to a different level. Abhishek says, “That was why we made Akshay Kumar also into an alcoholic. We just decided to go all out to make it an out-of-the-box film. It is a never-before-seen naughty experience.”
