In her latest column, actor-turned-author Twinkle Khanna applauded Stree 2 for its clever twist, where “women are free and men are scared.” She commended the film for balancing an important message with entertainment. Writing for The Times of India, Twinkle remarked that “horror films have fewer chills than the everyday horrors around us.”
Twinkle highlighted real-life horrors like “the rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata” and “the sexual abuse of two four-year-olds in Badlapur” to emphasize the significance of Amar Kaushik’s Stree 2.

She noted that the film, featuring a supernatural Stree targeting men at night, cleverly subverts the daily fears women endure.

The actress shared how she’s passing down the same lessons of caution her mother and grandmother taught her—urging her daughter to avoid going alone to the park, school, or work, and to be cautious of all men, including uncles, cousins, and friends. She stressed the need for stronger laws to protect women in public spaces, instead of restricting their freedom.Twinkle concluded her column with a poignant observation about the harsh realities women face in India. She suggested that women might feel safer meeting a ghost than a man in a dark alley, writing, “Till then, I suppose it is safer for the strees of this country to encounter a ghost in a dark alley than a man.”

The horror-comedy Stree 2, starring Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, has crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in worldwide box office collections, as announced by the makers on Sunday. Directed by Amar Kaushik and produced by Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films, the movie serves as a sequel to the 2018 hit Stree.
