At a time when the soundtrack of every Bollywood film is released about a month before it hits theatres, producer Vashu Bhagnani is releasing only a single from his next venture, Puja Films’ Ajab Ghazab Love, directed by Sanjay Gadvi. The producer, who launched the soundtrack of his F.A.L.T.U digitally last year, is looking at releasing tracks from the new film every fortnight or so, starting with Boom Boom Boom later this month. Vashu attributes this strategy to the changing market, saying, “Some people buy CDs even if they like one or two tracks in the album. When releasing a single, you can keep the surprise element intact. Besides, we have 3-4 variations of the song, and don’t want to give them all out at one time.”
Composer duo Sajid-Wajid has created the soundtrack and the lyrics for
Boom Boom Boom have been penned by Priya, who also wrote
Chaar Baj Gaye for
F.A.L.T.U. The producer is optimistic that
Boom Boom Boom will become a party anthem this year, just like
Chaar Baj Gaye became one last year. And its picturization in the party destination Virago, which is about three hours from Milan in Italy, will be its USP. “A 20-kilometre stretch along the beach is a complete party place. Bosco choreographed the song with 100 dancers from London, Russia, Italy and India, and about 200 local extras participating along with actors
Jackky Bhagnani, Arjun Rampal, Nidhi Subbaiah, Kirron Kher and Darshan Jariwala,” says Vashu, adding that the shoot for the song is still not complete.
He says, “A portion of the track requires Jackky to perform some very rough, hard core dance steps. So Bosco’s got him to rehearse them for a month. These are to be shot indoors, so we’ll complete shooting the song in a studio on July 18.We’ll release the video of this single later this month. However, it will only be available online and on select channels.”
Vashu’s new strategy has been a hit in the west for years now. Reportedly, of the 1.374 billion digital transactions last year, only 103 million or 7.5% were albums. “Every song is given a reasonable amount of time to grow, each has a unique marketing plan, and no song is available without promotion,” he signs off.
