Vijay Varma on working with Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti

It seems Vijay Varma is a favourite with filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. He starred in Zoya’s Gully Boy and very recently he was seen in Reema’s Dahaad. Working back-to-back with the director duo feels like a treat to Vijay, who thinks the two work on a more democratic set up. He says, “I am very collaborative with them as they allow collaborations. Both these ladies are extremely professional and democratic. Reema and Zoya are high thinking people and some of the finest creative minds we have (in the industry).” He further adds, “The best thing about working with them is that they expect me to bring my top game on. The part I play in Dahaad was a difficult part to say yes to. The character was very difficult to essay on screen. It was particularly difficult to understand if the audience will like this character or not. But when you have such solid filmmakers you take the chance. I expected something great out of Dahaad and it did so well.” The actor is happy that the director duo sees something in him, and in fact he is expecting a collaboration very soon. He signs off saying, “I don’t know what Reema and Zoya see in me, I just know that they have some kind of an appreciation for the work I do, which is something that they have shared with me. They also want to have a great future with me in terms of making more stories. So, now we are trying to see what we can do next.”
