Vipin Sharma, popularly known for his role as the insensitive father in Taare Zameen Par, is now kicked about two back to back releases -- Satyagraha and John Day. "I am mostly working with filmmakers in Bollywood who are trying to make a difference and that is where I am finding my like-mindedness," he says.
The actor adds, "Few know that for
Taare... I had actually auditioned for the Hindi teacher's role.
But the moment Aamir saw me he knew he had found Darsheel Safary's father."
Vipin's repertoire also boasts of films like
Paan Singh Tomar,
Raanjhanaa,
Inkaar,
Shahid,
Gangs of Wasseypur amongst others.
The actor started his career by assisting
Ketan Mehta and acting in a few television series with
Shyam Benegal. But that did not help take off his career and disillusioned he went to Toronto and worked as an editor and writer at the Canadian Film Centre.
Once in Mumbai, he did not know that a chance phone call to old friend Amole Gupte would eventually fetch him
Taare Zameen Par.
Vipin's dream, however, is to play a woman. "That is one character I would love to essay. It'd be challenging for me at the same time I am enjoying being part of this new cinema fast creating space for itself."
