Vishnu Induri has come down strongly against the legal case filed against the makers of ’83. Complaint of Future Resources FZE has alleged financial fraud against the makers of the sports drama, namely - Vishnu Induri’s Vibri Media,
Deepika Padukone,
Kabir Khan, Sajid Nadiadwala and others.
Calling it a case of publicity gimmick, Vishnu Induri told ETimes, “They (Future Resources FZE) are just minority share holders in Vibri Media and because of the pandemic, they have been pressurizing the promoters to buy back the shares.
This conflict is pending in NCLT Court in Hyderabad, it is also in arbitration in Supreme Court. So that has nothing to do with the film ’83. They tried the same thing during the release of ‘Thalaivii’ also. These producers have nothing to do with other producers involved with our projects. I have not received any legal complaint or notice from them. It's completely frivolous and a publicity gimmick. They are just trying to gain attention by naming ’83, Deepika Padukone, Kabir Khan and others.” Vibri Media is taking all legal action necessary in this case, which involves contempt of court and defamation suits.
With just 10 days left for release, the makers of ’83 have hosted a few private screenings and the response has been massively positive. Shares Vishnu Induri, “We are all excited about the film’s release. It has been a long journey for me especially as a producer of the project. I started it 7 years back and I am super excited about it. We have had a couple of screenings and exhibitors are mentioning that this is the only film that can bring the country together. What better complement than this!”
Ask about the box office clash between ’83 and Hollywood biggie ‘The Matrix Resurrections’ and he adds, “Every film has its own market and definitely ’83 has its own plus points and backing. So, Indians love films and cricket, so I don't see an issue on that.”
