When Raveena Tandon’s accidental kiss with costar made her throw up

Raveena Tandon became famous in the 1990s after her debut with the film 'Patthar Ke Phool'. She quickly gained success with movies like 'Dilwale', 'Laadla', 'Kshatriya', and 'Maatr' and went on to play many different roles, from serious dramas to fun comedies.

Like any other star trying to make it big in B-town, the actress also had her share of difficult moments during her early days in the industry. During a scene, her lips accidentally touched a male co-star’s, which made her feel so uncomfortable that she threw up. Although she didn’t reveal the actor’s name or the movie, the experience stayed with her for a long time.

In an interview with Lehren, Raveena openly said, “Back then, there were no contracts or anything. But I never did [kiss scenes] because I was not comfortable.” Raveena’s firm decision to avoid kissing scenes made her different from many other actors, and she stuck to her beliefs without giving in.

Further, she talked about the incident again, sharing more details about the scene and explaining why she felt so uncomfortable. “I remember I was doing a little rough handling scene with a male actor and I remember by mistake his lips just brushed my lips. It was by mistake, it was not even required. Like in that whole frenzy, it was a mistake. I went to my room and threw up because I was so not comfortable."

After the scene, she felt very nauseous and couldn’t handle the situation. She even wished the co-star would clean his mouth properly. She mentioned that the actor later apologised, but the experience was still very upsetting for her.

Now that Raveena’s daughter, Rasha Thadani, has started her career in Bollywood with the film Azad, the topic of kissing scenes has come up again. When asked if she would be comfortable with Rasha doing kissing scenes, Raveena gave a careful and thoughtful answer.

She added, “Again it depends. If she is comfortable doing it with someone, then why not. If she is not comfortable, nobody should have the power to force her to do anything that she does not want to do."
