When Salman Khan had to be hidden in a car while shooting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan

During a recent interview, Kabir Khan reminisced about the making of the 2015 film Bajrangi Bhaijaan, highlighting an unforgettable moment from their shoot in Delhi. He fondly recalled their first day when he captured scenes with Salman Khan outside the majestic backdrop of Jama Masjid. However, the following day brought an unexpected spectacle as they filmed in Chandni Chowk, where a staggering crowd of 25,000 gathered around, adding an electrifying energy to the set.


Speaking to Mashable India, Kabir said, “We were shooting inside a lane in Chandni Chowk. We didn’t know what was happening outside. The police came, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, and he said ‘you don’t know what’s happening outside, but you are surrounded by 25,000 people. You will not be able to leave this place. Because everyone knows that you are working with Salman Khan here.”



Kabir mentioned the necessity of employing ‘decoy cars’ and concealing Salman within one of them to safely navigate him out of the bustling area. “Then we had to bring some decoy cars, a few Innovas, we had to hide Salman in the car, found another way to get Salman out of that place, then we could leave. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have been able to leave. 25,000 people were around us, that’s his stardom,” he reminisced.


Following ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, Kabir and Salman collaborated on the 2017 film ‘Tubelight’, which failed to resonate with audiences. ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ featured Kareena Kapoor, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Harshali Malhotra alongside Salman Khan. Kabir shared insights into Harshali's casting, revealing that for the character of Munni, who didn't have any dialogues, he instructed casting director Mukesh Chhabra to consider faces from various regions in India and even abroad. “She should just look like she is from the mountains. Because language is not a barrier,” he remarked.
