When Sunny Deol left Dharmendra speechless with his playful remark on their dancing skills: ‘Like father like son’

Bollywood legend Dharmendra passed away on Monday, 24 November 2025, leaving fans, family and the film industry heartbroken. Though he is no longer with us, his timeless charm, unforgettable moments, and warm personality continue to live on in the hearts of millions. Recently, a clip of Sunny Deol on Salman Khan’s game show 'Dus Ka Dum' resurfaced, reminding fans of the playful and witty bond he shared with his iconic father.

Sunny has always been known for his intense action roles, but he openly admitted that dancing never quite became his strong suit, despite his father’s wish that he master it. During the episode, Dharmendra spoke candidly about his own struggles with dancing. He confessed that he would get extremely nervous whenever a dance sequence came up. He added that although Sunny seemed more capable than he had been, his son still found dancing challenging.

A warm glimpse into father–son banter

Sunny quickly chimed in with a cheeky comment that caught Dharmendra off guard. With a grin, he said, “Like father like son,” leaving Dharmendra momentarily speechless and giving the audience a glimpse of their affectionate banter.

Sunny’s family life has always been kept fairly low-profile, but some details were well known. He married Pooja Deol back in 1984, and together they have two sons, Karan and Rajveer.

Sunny Deol opens up on growing up in the Deol household

In an interview with Brut, Sunny looked back on how the Deols managed their lives under one roof. He explained that although they lived together, everyone had their own rhythm and personal interests. During his younger days, Sunny was busy filming, Dharmendra was focused on his own commitments, and Bobby was occupied with his projects. Sunny said his sons have also been deeply absorbed in their studies and self-growth.

He mentioned that while they did spend time together, they each valued their personal space. Sunny remembered that during the shoots for 'Apne' and 'Yamla Pagla Deewana,' he and his father often found themselves bonding more on set than at home. Those moments helped strengthen their relationship and build a comfort level that naturally evolved over time.

With a touch of humour, he also talked about how Karan and Rajveer occasionally avoided being in the same room as him, just like he used to shy away from being in the same room with Dharmendra. Sunny noted that this came from a mix of respect and a bit of nervousness, a pattern that seems to have passed down through generations.

Sunny Deol on the work front

Sunny Deol is clearly in a renewed phase of momentum. He will be seen in 'Border 2' with Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh and Ahan Shetty. He also has 'Lahore 1947', 'Gabru' and 'Ramayana' on the cards.
