A comedy track may not have fit well in a gripping thriller like Bommalattam, but for Vivekh. The actor plays a villager whose only dream is to get into films in the movie, that hit the screens last week. This is also the first time that Vivekh has tried the Madurai dialect in his films. Ask him about this experiment and he replies, This is only a forerunner.
Watch out for my performance in Magane En Marumagane in which I play a rustic villager.
Bommalattam is the first movie in which Vivekh has worked with Bharathiraja. I have always dreamt of working with him. He is a down-to-earth person who brings out the best in an actor. After the shooting of Bommalattam, he said, how did I miss you all these years?.After a hiatus, Vivekh has returned and is now the busiest comedian in Kollywood. He is also pairing up with Dhanush for the first time in Padikkathavan. Dhanush is a nice guy and it was great working with him, he says.Vivekhs role in Guru En Aalu, has generated interest. Ask about his new avatar and he retorts, I have portrayed three actresses in the movie Shreya, Shobana and Saroja Devi. It was fun acting as a woman. The actor is leaving no stone unturned when it comes to coping with competition in the industry. He says, Vadivelu is a very good actor. While his humour appeals to the rural masses, I target the urban audience. However, of late, I have begun concentrating on rural audiences too in my forthcoming movies. With Solli Adippaen, Vivekh is making his debut as a hero. I am comfortable working as a hero, but initially, I struggled with the duets and romance scenes, he explains. Is the actor aspiring to pair up with anyone? Lakshmi Rai is the hottest actresses. I would love to act with her, he says.Vivekh is the only person from the Tamil film industry who had the rare opportunity to interview former President APJ Abdul Kalam. I have quoted Kalam quite often in my movies and he was impressed. He instantly agreed to an interview when my name cropped up. I am a big fan of Kalam and my joy knew no bounds when I met him. Most people consider Vivekhs comedy to be responsible and clean. However, the comedian isnt happy that comedians do not get the attention they deserve. Leave alone a national award, there is not even a street or a shop named after a comedian. Every actress wants to marry a guy with a good sense of humour but is not ready to act with a comedian, he says. Is there anything special in his forthcoming films? I have experimented with the Tirunelveli dialect in Aindhaam Padai. In Bhavani IPS, I play the head constable Girivalam and I add a tinge of humour to the lives of policemen and the problems they face. I have also written a script, Mudinja Pudichiko, a thriller and am on the look out for a good producer, he says.He has been labelled an atheist by a section of the audience. Whats his take on spirituality and superstition? I am a very serious and spiritual person and I meditate regularly. I have never said anything against God. But I am against superstition, signs off the humorist.
