Without the Khans, most important thing a film needs is a good story, claims Badlapur director
Satish Pilangwad is keeping his fingers crossed as his first Hindi film, 'Badlapur Boys', gears up for release. The producer talks about his latest endeavour.
Tell us more about the film.
It revolves around the sport of kabaddi, which is sadly dying today. When Shailesh Verma, who wrote 'Veer' earlier, narrated the story to me, I loved it. He has also directed the movie.
1x1 polls
With this film, we want to give out a strong message to the audience. Annu Kapoor plays the coach of a kabaddi team. The film also features Nisshan, Saranya Mohan, Puja Gupta and Kishori Shahane among others.

The film’s team is relatively new. Don’t you view that as a risk?
When a film does not have a Khan or a Kapoor, the most important thing it needs is a good story and I think that’s what we have.
What about the film’s music?
The music has been composed by Shamir Tandon, Sachin Gupta and debutant Raju Sardar, while the lyrics have been written by Sameer Anjaan. Sukhwinder Singh, Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal and Javed Ali, among others, have lent their voices to the songs.
What’s in the pipeline?
Up next, we have Marathi film Razzakar featuring Siddharth Jadhav and Zakir Hussain.
Badlapur Boys, produced by Karrm Movies, releases December 12.
