Salman Khan to have a double guest role in ‘Judwaa 2’?

Varun Dhawan will soon be seen in a double role for the first time in the upcoming film ‘Judwaa 2’. As the film is a sequel to the 1997 Salman Khan starrer, numerous reports have hinted at the star making a cameo appearance. But coming as a surprise, rumour has it that Salman will also have a dual role in the film. According to reports, his characters Raja and Prem will probably look older by two decades and will meet Varun Dhawan’s twin characters in the climax. If the reports are to be believed then Salman will also be seen in two revised songs - ‘Oonchi hai building’ and ‘Tan tana tan.’ Well, that’s going to be a lot of fun, won’t it?

Fan

The first trailer of Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Fan’ left the audience spellbound. While the film has managed to impress cinegoers, there is also a section of the audience that hasn't been too satisfied with the film. However, there is no difference of opinion when it comes to Shah Rukh Khan's brilliant dual act - Aryan Khanna and his crazily-obsessed fan, Gaurav.

But this is not the first time that any of the Khans – Aamir, Shah Rukh and Salman – have played a double role. Click the following slide to know about more films where a Khan played a dual character…

Judwaa

Director David Dhawan’s ‘Judwaa’ had a few firsts. It was the first time that one of the three Khans, Salman Khan on this occasion, played a double role. Plus, before this film, although Dhawan had made a number of comedies, it was only with this film that he tried his hand at something completely mindless. And the result turned out to be favorable. The film highly succeeded in tickling the audience’s funny bone while Salman too was praised for playing two starkly different characters with ease.

Duplicate

Mahesh Bhatt’s ‘Duplicate’ was Shah Rukh Khan’s first attempt at a double role. He played two characters that were poles apart – the fearful and innocent Bablu Chaudhry and the bindaas ruffian, Manu Dada. Its song ‘Ek shararat hone ko hai’ became a rage and, in fact, is still remembered. Unfortunately, this was the only thing that worked in the film since it turned out to be a flop. This was Bhatt’s second outing with the King Khan. The first one, ‘Chaahat’ too didn’t work.

Don

Shah Rukh Khan finally tasted success in a double role in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don’. The film was the remake of Chanda Barot’s 1978 blockbuster of the same name, featuring the megastar Amitabh Bachchan. SRK succeed in playing a ruthless don as well as an innocent commoner with ease. But what worked the most for the film was the huge twist in the very end, which literally shocked the audience. Although there were few who weren’t happy with the film, it managed to succeed at the ticket window.

Dhoom 3

Aamir Khan took almost 30 years, after he made his film debut, to star in a double role in Vijay Krishna Acharya’s ‘Dhoom 3’. The wait turned out to be worth for the producers, Yash Raj Films, as the film turned out to be one of the biggest blockbusters ever. Although ‘Dhoom 3’ received its share of negative comments from audience and critics, Aamir’s act as a cunning thief and his autistic twin brother was well appreciated. The film also had some Hollywood-like exciting stunt sequences.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo

Double role isn’t a novel idea in Bollywood by any means. But hardly few could have expected a Sooraj Barjatya movie to feature this concept and that too in his most favorite genre – family dramas. The Rajshri film focused on a dramatic tale featuring lookalikes but at the same time, kept their usual family values intact. But the risk paid high dividends and ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’ broke quite a few box office records. The film also went on to be one of Salman’s biggest hits.
