National Award-winning filmmaker, writer, singer and actor Arun Shankar is all set to launch his next single. Arun, who was working on his next Hindi feature film, had to postpone it after the COVID-19

pandemic

brought the film industry to a grinding halt earlier this year. He has now decided to work on his next single from his album. Talking about it, Arun said, “We are living in difficult times and the kind of situation we all are in right now, has forced me into thinking if we have gone wrong somewhere. He added, “Since my film work will not commence due to unavailability of permission to shoot in different places, I plan to work on my next single.”

Arun has collaborated with Indian composer and environmentalist Ricky Kej, who won a Grammy for his album ‘Winds of Samsara’. Telling us more about it, Arun said, “Ricky is an active

environmentalist

and his music is mostly a depiction of nature. He has dedicated himself to this cause and I felt it would be best to work with him and compose a meaningful, yet peppy track that gives out a positive message to listeners.”

Arun will pen the lyrics along with lyricist Raqueeb Alam, who has written songs for musician AR Rahman for films such as ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Million Dollar Arm’ and ‘Sivaji: The Boss’. The song is set to be released by Diwali.

When we contacted Ricky, he said, “I am excited to work with Arun Shankar, he is a fantastic musician and shares my passion for creating art on social causes. He wants to give back to society through his music, and I am glad that I can help him achieve this noble goal through this collaboration.”
