It was a rare musical congregation when 10 Indian musicians were honoured as people of the year at the unveiling of the Limca Book of Records 2012 in the city recently. Pandit Ravi Shankar was the chief guest for the evening, and even at the age of 92, the sitar maestro was at his wittiest best. Honouring the awardees, he said, “Usually, I’m the one getting the awards.
For the first time, I’ve been asked to give awards. This feels special!”
Many of the attendees shared personal anecdotes, like L Subramaniam, who said that he dropped out of medicine to study music. The event concluded with performances by various artistes including
Hariharan,
Papon and
Harshdeep Kaur.
