Listening to the music of Thira, one wouldn't imagine it has been composed by the same musician who composed the soft, conventional melodies in Thattathin Marayathu.Shaan Rahman has experimented with a lot of new sounds and techniques in
Thira, probably in tune with the thriller element of the film.
Thira has four songs in all plus a reprise, all of which are listenable, mainly due to the singers involved.
Vineeth Sreenivasan's energetic rendering plus a new age background music makes
Theerathe Neelunna, the title track, catchy. However, the song progresses in the same manner throughout.
Thazhvaram has two versions, both of which belongs to the female voice, by Neha Nair. The first version starts off with a classical western fusion with plenty of veena thrown in. Neha Nair's deep vocals and her distinct humming make it exceptional. But the actual melody is just above average. The reprise version has a piano backing which is also interesting to listen to.
Nithya Sahaya Nathe is a soothing prayer song with nature sounds thrown in. In
Thazhe Nee Tharame, where Sachin Warrier, Job Kurien and Sayanora have lent their voices, the composer has again experimented with new sounds and an echo effect, and the result is a delight.
