The makers of 'Daas Dev', which is directed by
Sudhir Mishra, have released the final song from the film. Called 'Rangdaari', the lyrics are inspired by lines from Munir Naizi’s Punjabi poem and the track nails the crux of the film. Composed by Arko Mukherjee and sung by him and Navraj Hans, 'Rangdaari' is an uptempo love ballad and its video is sleek and stylised.
The song features Rahul Bhat as Dev and
Richa Chadha as Paro and delves into Dev’s angst and Paro’s fiery spirit. It promises to take the audience straight into the heart of the narrative.
Talking about the song, Sudhir Mishra said, “My narration of the story may have taken a reverse spin and William Shakespeare may have influenced my thinking, but what remains undisturbed is that love triggers people into taking risks to protect the ones they care for. Given that my narrative has a political backdrop of a dynasty which is addicted to power, it is laced with complexities. The dilemmas faced by characters in 'Devdas' are no different from those faced in 'Daas Dev'; only the premise is different. 'Rangdaari' sums up the attitude of the film — that you cannot dump those who you claim to love. In a nutshell, everything can be fixed but love.” In the video, the chemistry between the new-age Dev and Paro is palpable. If the trailer gave out various nuances of love, then 'Rangdaari' highlights these emotions even further.
'Daas Dev', produced by
Sanjeev Kumar of Saptarishi Cinevision and presented by
Gaurav Sharma of Storm Pictures, releases on April 20.
