Amrit Dasu: I want to put out albums to tell my life story
Amrit Dasus debut single 'Dil Kya Kare' (Did I love you?) gives the classic Kishore Kumar number a pop spin with a hint of R&B. The young artiste grabbed eyeballs with his debut single that featured Mallika Sherawat. Speaking about it, Amrit says, It is a song about a person feeling used in a relationship. The verses of the songs are asking the question while the hook of the song are the answers.
Reworking a well-known song is often a tough job and one always runs the risk of turning a classic into a disaster.

Balance is necessary, the young artiste tells us. Before we pick an old song, we have to make sure it makes sense with our style of NY/ATL Hip Hop sound because it can become a mess if done the wrong way. But luckily in hip hop, Indian samples are very common.

It is unsaid that the guy loves old Hindi film songs. I am a huge fan. I often see my parents singing along when they see songs playing on TV. It just shows how good music truly lives forever. I really enjoy listening to Arijit Singh at the moment. I want to work with him someday. But my inspiration comes from my everyday life, my relationships and the ups and downs that come with this industry.
Amrit is music producer Rishi Richs blue-eyed boy, but for the young singer, he is a friend first and mentor later. He has helped me understand music a lot better. We have been working on an album together, he says. Unlike most who feel Bollywood music is their ultimate destination, Amrits focus is on creating music that appeals to him.
I dont want to limit myself. I want to put out albums to tell my life story. I would also love to make music for movies if they want my sound but I am choosy when it comes to songs in movies. I have to understand what the directors want before saying yes. But my main focus is my independent music, he concludes.
