Babul Supriyo recalls how Himesh Reshammiya’s rise 'shattered' his career after 'Hum Tum': 'Everything went away in a flash'
Singer-politician Babul Supriyo candidly discussed the forces that derailed his Bollywood career, from shifting musical trends to being repeatedly overlooked for National Awards, in a revealing conversation. He even shared how Himesh Reshammiya's rise affected his career. Let's look at what the singer has to say about his journey.

Babul Supriyo says Himesh Reshammiya's rise changed everything

In an interview with India Today, Babul Supriyo opened up about the pivotal moment when the industry's sound changed drastically, leaving him stranded at what should have been the peak of his career. "When I sang 'Hum Tum,' after that, I got a lot of romantic songs. But at that time, Himesh Reshammiya ji also arrived, and he started a new trend. Because of this, a steamroller ran over all romantic songs. Everything was ruined for me; it was all shattered. Everything went away in a flash," he said.

"If I say that I didn't lose anything because of those types of songs, then I'll be a hypocrite.
After 'Hum Tum,' people around me cheered that my career would take off. But instead, it just went downhill as I went through the worst phase after that. It was really painful," he said.On the question of bad politics in the industry, Supriyo chose to take the high road. "There's some bad politics, too, but I won't talk about it."
