Bollywoods fascination with the popular Sufi number Dum-a-Dum Mast Qalandar has given us yet another rendition of the song in Nagesh Kukunoors forthcoming film 'Dhanak'. The funky version has been composed by Tapas Relia and sung by Devu Khan.
It has been picturised on the films lead character, eight-year old Chotu, who travels across the Rajasthan desert with his elder sister Pari to meet Shah Rukh Khan.

He hopes that the superstar will help him get his eyesight back.

Its a sequence where the kids meet a hippie who tries to teach Chotu a song, Give Love A Chance, which is our version of John Lennons Give Peace A Chance. But when Chotu cant get the words right, he breaks into Dum-a-Dum Mast Qalandar. They eventually get into a jugalbandi. Neither of them understands each others language, but the message of both the tracks is universal, says Kukunoor.
'Dhanak', produced by Drishyam Films, releases on June 10.
