I'm afraid of corporate life: Shefali Alvares

Hyderabad connection
I have been shuttling between Hyderabad and Mymbai for the last 2 years. I loved my job as a singer at a star hotel here. It was like a paid holiday because I was living in the hotel and made some good friends too. I think I’ve grown as a person in the last two years, it helped me realize who I was. More than a job, singing here was a learning process.
The music in her
I started singing when I was three years old and the fact that my father was a musician, has a huge part to play in this.He taught me everything I know. Music is who I am and what I do. I haven’t really tried my hand at anything else. There is the occasional painting that I dabble in and hopefully, I can organize an exhibition of them. But there’s nothing else I’d rather do than sing.
Working with Distil Soul
Well, the band and I have worked together on and off, for about eight years now. But our performance in Hyderabad this time is our first show as a proper band. We’ve been friends for years and grew up together. The guys have really pushed me harder to sing the way I do today. We have had our differences, but you know, you have to leave your worries at the door before you perform. More over, I feel it’s really important that a band, including the technicians and sound engineers, should just chill together. After our gig here, we were all chilling in my room and watching funny videos and just laughing our heads off.
Live music scene
I’ve played here at many private shows and gigs and I think the live music scene in Hyderabad is growing immensely. Three decades ago, live music was big and now it’s back with a bang again.
Her unique style quotient
My feet are claustrophobic. I hate heels, but I like boots. I like long flowy things. I’m always walking around in pair of slippers or flip-flops and people look at me as if I’m crazy.
