I'm not dating Price Harry: Lauren Pope
It got a super-splash on the front page of newspapers when Lauren Pope was caught dancing with Prince Harry at a nightclub.
That was her first. Since then, it has been a cakewalk as Lauren was subsequently chosen as the cover girl of magazines like Playboy. While her link-ups with UK’s most eligible bachelors has provided enough grist to the rumour mills, Lauren went on to prove that she’s more than just beauty.
1x1 polls
UK’s most prominent Page 3 pin-up, she has hosted parties for T-Pain, Ne-yo, Jenna Jameson and Lindsay Lohan, among many others. Before her first-ever performance in India today, the model-actor-DJ opened up to TOI in an e-mail interview. Excerpts:
UK magazine Nuts named you as one of the ‘World’s Sexiest DJs’. If there’s just one word to describe you, would that be ‘sexy’?
I don’t see myself as sexy at all. I just try and make the most of what I’ve got — I wear little dresses when I’m DJing as that’s my image.
You first hit headlines having danced at a nightclub with Prince Harry. Were you dating him then?
No.
Are you in touch with Prince Harry anymore?
No.
Was Prince Harry just an acquaintance when you met him at the nightclub, or you didn’t know him at all?
I don’t want to answer questions on Prince Harry.
Your relationships have provided fodder to the paparazzi. After having been mentioned in the context of English football player
Peter Crouch, your name was thrown up as a famous World Cup 2010 WAG as you are thought to be dating Man City’s Shaun Wright-Phillips. Are you seeing him?
Nope, I’ve never met Peter Crouch or Shaun Wright-Phillips.
How do you handle media speculations about your personal life?
It’s hard as the rumours are often not true but you have to learn to build a thick skin and ignore the same, which can be very hard!
You are considered as the ‘go to’ girl for celebs wanting to host parties in London. You’ve already spun for T-Pain, Neyo, Jenna Jameson and Lindsay Lohan. But the Lindsay Lohan event attracted a lot of controversy as the actor was then “off” with girlfriend Sam Ronson and you were brought into the bitter battle. What had actually happened?
This was all over-hyped by the UK press. I basically DJed at her party and we hung out for a bit.
Did you speak to Lindsay Lohan after she was released from jail recently?
I don’t know Lindsay that well, we met briefly and she was lovely, very friendly and sweet. I think she gets a very hard time in the press, which is unnecessary!
One of the most frequently used ‘Page 3’ pin-ups for national newspapers The Sun and the Daily Star, cover girl of magazines like Playboy, a model and an actor, what made you take up DJing?
It started as a hobby that I just loved doing and then it turned into a career amazingly!
How has the journey been?
A friend of mine offered to teach me DJing and then I met my current manager who shaped my career ever since.
Dubbed UK’s No. 1 glamour girl DJ, how does it feel when people look at you in amazement and say, “Yes, she can actually play!” Do you take it as a compliment?
Yes, definitely, it always is a compliment to be told you are good at something. I happily take it as a compliment.
Which genres of music are close to your heart — RnB and hip hop?
I love all types but especially hip hop, electro and pop.
How is the party scene in the UK?
The UK has a great party scene, every night of the week there is something going on somewhere, especially in London.
Any idea about the club scene in India?
I love the club scene in India, everyone’s up for a good time and people are very friendly!
Any special plans for the trip?
I can’t wait to travel around India and meet the crowds and play them my music. It will be a lot of fun!
Are you aware of the country and it’s famous film industry, Bollywood?
Yes, of course. I’ve heard a lot about Bollywood but never actually watched any of the movies. I need to though!
You landed roles in UK’s popular shows, “Mile High” and “Dream Team”, as well as films such as “Rise of the Footsoldier” and “Clubbing to Death”. Is more of acting on the cards?
Not really, I like doing little cameos here and there, but acting isn’t something I want to pursue.
Katy Perry and Russell Brand recently tied the knot in India. Would you consider the country as a marriage destination?
I think they got engaged in India, so it held lots of memories for them. India is beautiful, so it’s definitely a great wedding destination.
Last, but not the least, Is Lauren single then?
No, I have a lovely boyfriend. I’ll miss him when I’m in India!
