Pujas are round the corner and singers are ready with their respective albums celebrating the festive spirit. Anasua Choudhury is now ready with her next solo album titled “Prem Aatkahon”. The novelty about this project is that members of leading bands of the city have composed one song each for this album.
Says Anasua, “I have always loved their compositions and find their sound very contemporary.

Upal of Chandrabindoo had first got in touch with me and asked if I would be interested in singing a number that he has composed. I agreed. The rest soon fell into place.”
While Surajit of Bhoomi has composed “Ghashe ghashe lukochuri”, Sidhu of Cactus has offered the song called “Bohudur”. Rupankar, who has a band called Atma, has composed “Ektu chhonya” and Anindya of Sohor has scored a number titled “Tor sathe”. Then, there is Samir Chattopadhyay of Aguntuk whose song is called “Tor hath dhore”. “I too have composed a number for this album. Anindya of Milestone band has also contributed another number. However, all of my fellow composers have scored keeping my voice and the theme of love in mind. Though they have retained their signature touch, the songs don’t essentially sound like they belong to that of these bands,” Anasua adds.
Another interesting part is that the author Tilottama Majumder has for the first time penned the lyrics for the number that has been composed by Upal. The song goes like “Je toke diyechhe jol”. While Surajit’s number has been penned by his wife (Kamalini), Rupankar’s wife (Chaitali) has written the song composed by him.
Another interesting development in Anasua’s career is that she has recently been roped in as a member of the Censor Board of Film Certification. “Mamata Banerjee is fond of my songs. I am also part of the Railway Board. I was requested to join the CBFC. I love watching movies and the debates over cuts are quite interesting. Perhaps, this is a very challenging experience of my life,” she signs off.
There was a time when I used to write poetry. Now, I am more into writing prose. If there is anything that I like apart from literature, it is music. I love Rabindra Sangeet but I also listen to all kinds of songs. There are times when I have wanted to express my inner feelings through lyrics. That’s how this song “Je toke diyechhe jol” was born. I wrote it keeping Upal in mind and gave the lines to him. I felt the lines needed a tune. Upal composed a song and, now, Anasua has sung it too– Tilottama Majumder
