Recently, Insync, a reputed city-based event management group, decided to pay a tribute to the late ghazals maestro Mehdi Hassan Khan. But then, they were nervous for two reasons. First, the late maestro's ghazals aren't exactly easy to sing. Secondly, with rains around, the organizers were a little sceptical about how many would turn up. But their fears turned out to be a case of false alarm.
Barodians, never the kind of people to give a miss to a quality musical programme, ensured a near full-house at the C C Mehta auditorium, where the programme was held.
Rahul Ranade, Sachin Limaye and Ashita Limaye, the singers, were in fine form and rich
shayaris and interesting anecdotes added more to the evening. A special round of applause was reserved for six year old wonder kid Shivam, who won everyone over with his endearing rendition of
Rafta rafta wo meri. In between, there were some brilliant
jugalbandis on offer by the awesome trio of Ojas Adhiya, Manas Kumar and Amit Thakkar. Spotted, among others, were Satish Sharma, Bharat Shah, Tanuj and Sonali Desai, Sanjay and Sharmishtha Chawda,
Bunty Singh, Chandrakant Golani, Dillip Dash, Vatsala Patil and several other well-known people from the city.
