From Baazigarand Borderto the National Award winning score in Refugeeto Main Hoon Naand countless other hits, Anu Malik has given Hindi cinema some of its most memorable songs in the last two decades. However, the composer says that becoming a music director was the last thing on his mind while he was growing up. "My dream was to become the Police Commissioner of Mumbai and I had appeared for the IAS exams too.
I love my country more than anything else and that reflects in my compositions too. I wanted to do something for my nation. But destiny had other plans in store and life took a U-turn at 17, when people heard my compositions. Once I started doing films, there was no looking back. I believe that everything is pre-destined and whatever happens, happens for the best," Malik said during the launch of the singing reality show
Star Ya Rockstarin Mumbai. While his stint as a judge on reality shows has always made headlines, as he got involved in verbal fights with co-judges like Farah Khan, Malik says, "No one should ever question my credibility as a composer or judge. So, in Star Ya Rockstar, I love being the solo judge. While a lot of people feel my fights with co-judges are scripted, I genuinely lose it sometimes. But trust me, I hate getting into fights."He adds, "Me and Farah share a love-hate relationship, but I adore her. She has got a mind of her own but when she says something, I listen. So, when I do the same, she better listen!"
