Shakespeare’s plays have always interested theatre directors, so on the third day of the ongoing Jairangam festival, the Jaipur audience witnessed yet another adaptation of Othello. Staged at Ravindra Manch, the play Shadow Of Othello by Ishtiaq Khan seemed inspired by the Bollywood film Omkara, which was also an adaptation of Othello. The 90-minute-long play saw actors trying to imitate Saif Ali Khan and Ajay Devgn’s characters from the film, leading to some hilarious situations.

Written by S Vasudev, the play was directed by Narendra Gupta of CID fame, who is originally from Jaipur. The story revolved around a businessman, who, due to his car breaking down, takes shelter in a house owned by a retired judge.
