Bharaate

Jagan (Sriimurali) hails from a family that has been practising Ayurveda for years, a tradition inherited from their forefathers settled in Jodhpur. Jagan follows in the footsteps of his family, while also working as a local guide to introduce tourists to historical places. His mother (Tara) wants him to get married, but Jagan is waiting to find the right one.

The story of Bharaate is simple - Jagan falls in love with Radha (Sreeleela), when she visits Jodhpur as a tourist. She returns home without informing Jagan, which leaves him crestfallen. As fate has it, Jagan visits North Karnataka for a special puja, where he runs into Radha again, rekindling his hope of marrying her.

But taking their relationship forward is easier said than done, as the duo face objections from her family. And, as it turns out, there is more than meets the eye as far as Jagan’s trip to Karnataka is concerned.
At over two and half hours, Bharaate is an attempt to churn out a commercial potboiler, which has elements of action, comedy, and family values, all commonly associated with director Chethan Kumar’s films. While he manages to entertain audiences with a subtle message, some sequences feel too long and the gory violence may not be palatable for all. The narrative is predictable, and it is only in the second half that the director manages to strike a chord with audiences with pacy narration and a host of villains, played by Sai Kumar, Avinash, Ayappa P Sharma and P Ravishankar, all of who live up to the expectations. There are plenty of one liners from Sriimurali, which will be a treat for his fans. Sreeleela sizzles in her second outing as Radha. Bharaate is tailor made for those who have a penchant for commercial films.
