Girgitle

Three youngsters come to Bengaluru to earn a name for themselves through the notorious ways of the underworld. While they are street smart and know how to get their work done right, they meet an able acquaintance and mentor in the form of Harishchandra, an unemployed philosopher. The film chronicles their misadventures.

Girgitle sets out to be an ambitious project and wants to touch upon a whole host of genres and topics. What begins on a very promising note, suggesting to viewers that they will get to see the real story of how Srirampura, haven for breeding rowdies, has none now. But it soon turns into a typical commercial story with three protagonists, lots of dialogues packed with punch and even songs and dance. By the end of the film, Girgitle turns out to be a preachy tale about the nation, unemployment and begging.

Girgitle might have worked out better had the makers tried to focus on one aspect. The final project seems like a jigsaw puzzle that has pieces of multiple pictures pieced together to make a complete one that doesn't convey anything in particular. There is a sequence featuring the two leading ladies and one of the protagonists, which leaves you wondering what its purpose was in the end.

Girgitle could still appeal to those who like films with loud dialogues and action, and some philosophy, too. But if you are looking for a definite story, this might not be the one.
