His village is at war with neighboring Parvathipura. As one expects in a film like this, there are innuendo laden dialogues, quirky characters and some sleaze too. This takes away the noble message the film wants to give.
There are way too many films with the Thithi characters Century Gowda and Gaddappa playing the lead. Their character names too remain the same and these films seem to ride on their fame while adding a little bit of sleaze and double entendre filled lines to titillate the front benchers.
The problem with Haalu Thuppa is that there is a wafer thin line serving as the plot and there are quite a few forced gags that weigh the plot down. While the film deals with a few stereotypes found in villages especially around the interval, this does not salvage the flimsy narrative and half baked characters.
If you are looking for a few laughs with the Thithi characters in between a dragging screenplay, this may be for you. Or you could instead watch Thithi again too.
