Puneeth

It’s an interesting triangular love story directed by Neel Kamal. The story revolves around the theme ‘preethi madhura thyaga amara’ with the hero sacrificing his love for his brother.

As a debutant director of a romantic movie, Neel Kamal has put his right foot forward. The plot has a boy fall in love with a girl, but the girl happens to love his brother. However, Neel still has a long way to go to prove his mettle as a full-fledged director. The narration, especially in the first half, is somewhat loose. But full marks to Neel for excellent handling of the sequences in the latter part of the second half. The developments keep you gripped till the climax.

Puneeth (Dilip Pai) falls in love with Punya (Nisha Shetty), who had come to stay in his house for two months. But Nisha is in love with Puneeth’s brother Prashanth (who was adopted by Puneeth’s parents). Unaware that Nisha loves him, Prashanth helps Puneeth in his romance with her. All hell breaks loose when Puneeth comes to know that Punya is in love with Prashanth. Puneeth sacrifices his love for Prashanth. How? Wait for the interesting climax.

Dilip Pai has done a good job, but impresses you only during the climax. Nisha Shetty is the best of the lot with her impressive performance. Ramakrishna, Bhavya and Adarsha have done justice to their roles. Music by Kabir Raj and camera work by Ananth Urs are average.
