4 Kannada Films remade in other languages

Indian films in various languages are known to be influenced and ‘inspired’ by movies from not just Indian languages but also foreign ones. Kannada cinema has had its share of being the one to inspire remakes. Here’s a quick look at some of the films that were remade into other languages:

Rajkumar's 'Shankar Guru' is one terrific blockbuster smashing box office and creating unbeatable records. The film was red hot in remake rights. The film was remade in Telugu as Kumara Raja, in Tamil as 'Tirisoolam' and in Hindi as Mahaan. Only in the Tamil version with Sivaji, the magic was repeated.

'Antha' was all over a sensation during the release making Ambareesh a big star who didn't look back after 'Antha'. When remade in Hindi as Meri Awaz Sunoo, in Telugu as Antham Kaadidhi Aarambham and in Tamil as Thyagi, all the versions created controversies but didn't repeat the magic like the Kannada version did.

Rajkumar's Anuraga Aralidhe was another big blockbuster by the legend and went on to create new records. The film was remade in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi with Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi and Anil Kapoor respectively. Just like Rajkumar, Rajinikanth and Chiranjeevi scored blockbusters in the remakes.

Puneeth Rajkumar's debut as a hero with Appu turned out to be a stunning blockbuster. The film made Puneeth a big star overnight. The film was remade in Telugu as Idiot with Ravi Teja, in Tamil as Dhum with Simbu, in Bengali as Hero with Jeet and in Bangladesh Bengali as Priya Amar Priya with Shakib Khan
