The concept of language and ethnicity has been quite the topic of discussion of late on social media. Not very long ago, as many would recall, the controversy surrounding Kannada and the "ugliest language" row saw a major backlash from all over with many proud Kannadigas, including a number of celebs, retaliating against Google and other concerned individuals for the disrespect.
However, the issue blew over without any serious consequences, and thanks to the sincere efforts of all Kannadigas, the hashtag #queenofalllanguages began to trend almost right away.
In a somewhat similar situation, actor
Adhvithi Shetty too found herself standing up to an act of disrespect towards the Tulu Nadu flag by a social media abuser. The abuser (unnamed) had shared a picture of a pair of sandals that had the flag of the Tulu region printed on them along with a comment that meant serious disrespect to the people and the region. So, when Adhvithi Shetty, a native Tulu speaker, learned about the misdemeanor, she did not hold back from condemning the serious disrespect towards her land and shared a post on social media with critical comments.
"This is not acceptable 🤬 My mother tongue is Tulu. Am a proud Tuluva and to see this hurts 🥺 Got to know about this today and it's so sad to see. No one can speak ill about any language 🥺 . There is so much happening around us y do we need to spread or talk hatred about things like these ???? As much as I love ಕನ್ನಡ I love Tulu too ❤️ Am a proud Bunt ❤️🙏🏼 I hope this culprit is caught very soon," wrote Adhvithi Shetty in an attempt to call out the culprit and seek suitable punishment.
A former HR executive, Adhvithi Shetty began her film career with the 2014 superhit 'Mr. and Mrs. Ramachari' and would later go on to star as the lead in the TV soap 'Eradu Kanasu'. She will soon be seen opposite
Darling Krishna in 'Sugar Factory' and J.K. in 'Iravan'.
