Actor
Tarak Ponnappa, known for his macho roles in Ajaramara and Brihaspathi, is excited to play a softer role in romantic thriller Amruth Apartments, set to release across Karnataka on November 26. The movie is directed and produced by Gururaj Kulkarni.
Tarak plays Vasudevmurthy, a software engineer, who lives in Amruth Apartments. Tarak says, “I play a soft-spoken guy who gets married to Sapna, a girl from Kolkata, played by Urvashi Goverdhan.
But their cultures are completely different which makes them quarrel frequently. Vasudevamurthy believes in the joint family and wants to live with his parents, but his wife disagrees, leading to conflicts. To add to the turmoil, a tragedy in their apartment takes the couple by surprise, propelling the story forward. I was born and brought up in Bengaluru and I have come across people from diverse cultures who have got married and this helped me to get into the role easily. Relationships have become hollow these days and that’s why I accepted this role.”
On working with debutante Gururaj Kulkarni, Tarak adds, “He might be new as a director, but he has a wealth of experience as a producer and he has the right team which makes his job easier. It is his narrative style that made me do the project without a second thought. He has touched upon relationships and values very neatly with the right mix of crime that keeps audiences on the edge of their seats.”
Tarak shares that he has also signed up for Gilki, a film directed by YK. “It sees me in a new look. The team doesn't want anything to be revealed until the shoot is completed,” he sums up.
