Anand Appugol to contest elections

Anand Appugol -- the producer of one of the biggest Kannada films in recent times, Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna -- is likely to contest from Kittur constituency in the coming Assembly Elections. The producer is currently in New Delhi in a bid to get a Congress-I ticket. If is not able to be part of that party, it is said that he will contest as an independent candidate.
Anand is on a high following the news that Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna will be dubbed in several Indian languages. Dubbed versions in Punjabi, Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Bengali, Oriya, Assam and Bengali have said to be finalized.
The film has clocked 150 days at the box office, and upon his return from Delhi, it is said that Anand will celebrate the occasion, on the advice of Sri Kodi Math Swamiji. The film has moved from Nartaki theatre to Tribhuvan theatre in its 22nd week of screening and is said to continue to attract audiences by virtue of its content and the performance of Darshan in the title role.
