Actor-director Vamshi Krishna, who started his journey as an assistant director with Radhakrishna Reddy’s Mayabazaar, and debuted as the lead actor in the anthology film, Pentagon, is now ready to don both hats for his upcoming project. The official announcement will be made on Monday.
Vamshi counts himself lucky to be associated with the first family of the industry here.
Vamshi Krishna’s film is a small-budget artistic film with commercial elements, “not to be confused with an art film”. “This is a beautiful, content-oriented film with a small cast and crew and a very relatable subject,” he adds.
KFI has been producing several big-budget films of late. Asked why he thinks a small film can work in such a scenario, he says, “I firmly believe that no matter how big or small a film is, audience connect is very important. If audience can connect emotionally with a film, they will accept it, no matter what. Take Love Mocktail or Dia for example. Our efforts should be towards taking the film to the audience,” he says.
With no formal acting training, Vamshi says he is not worried about donning the dual hat. “I have acted in short films and plays during college. Moreover, I wrote this script for me. I believe that I can judge myself better when I am doing both,” he signs off.
The movie is likely to take off in June.
