It isn’t new for Bangalore girls to see their celluloid dreams come true in Mumbai. And the latest lass to join the club is Aprajita Mahajan, who will make her Bollywood debut opposite Sharad Malhotra of From Sydney with Love fame. Aprajita, who studied mass communication in Bangalore, moved to Mumbai and worked as a copywriter there. But her dream always was to be an actress, and once she completed a course at
Anupam Kher’s acting school, she gave several auditions and landed a role in
Arshad Siddiqui’s 1 13 7 — Ek Tera Saat, which Aprajita says is a thriller.
“I met the director and he narrated the script to me and elaborated on my role, and I liked both. He also chose me because he said I have very expressive eyes. In fact, I don’t have many dialogues in the movie — I communicate with my eyes,” says Aprajita. We asked whether her striking resemblance to
Twinkle Khanna got her the role, to which she says,“Do I really look like her? People tell me I look more like
Soha Ali Khan.” But Aprajita admits that having star pedigree rather than star resemblance helps in the industry. — Anjali Muthanna
