I felt totally at home directing a movie: Nagini Bharana

Acclaimed director and thespian Nagabharana’s wife, Nagini is elated over her new stint as a director. Her debut film, Genius Muttha, is said to be inspired by real-life tales. “The film is about a child prodigy. and we take a look at the life of one such genius in our midst,” shares Nagini.

‘My husband is my guru and I learnt a lot from him’
Having watched her husband Nagabharana at work for 36 years, Nagini says she didn’t feel any different when she wore the director’s mantle for her first mainstream film.“I have been with my husband when he’s directed, in the studio, at music recordings, production, designed costumes and sometimes, Bharana would even leave me to helm his serials on my own. He’s my guru and I owe him so much of my learnings. Having also directed documentaries, this doesn’t feel new to me. I felt totally at home,” Nagini tells us. The highlight for Nagini is that her entire family, including Nagabharana, her son Pannaga Bharana, along with some of her close friends like Girija Lokesh, Sundar Raj and Vijay Raghavendra, are a part of her movie.
