I thought about making Mungaru Male 2 in 2007 itself

Producer G Gangadhar has been waiting for nearly 10 years for the release of Mungaru Male 2, which is slated to take place this week. As the film gears up to hit theatres, he spoke to Bangalore Times about working with Ganesh and Shashank again, and more. Excerpts'2007 to 2016I was the executive producer of Mungaru Male and after its release in 2006, I registered the name Mungaru Male 2 in 2007 itself. After the first film, the actor and director, Ganesh and Yogaraj Bhat respectively, got busy with their other projects and I waited for many years to make Mungaru Male 2. Three years ago, I approached Ganesh, and expressed a desire to make another film with him. He was excited at the prospect, although he didn't know then that I wanted to make this film. After meeting with him, his wife, Shilpa, called me and suggested that we make another Mungaru Male film, under the E.K Picture's banner.The switch from Yogaraj Bhat to ShashankI initially approached Yogaraj to direct this film, but he said that due to his other commitments, he would come onboard a year later. I couldn't wait much longer, so, after consulting with Ganesh, I approached Shashank, who I had worked with in Moggina Manasu. Shashank asked for 10 days' times to think about the offer. He was aware of the responsibility he had, considering that Mungaru Male is a much-loved film. He thought about it and said that he would take it up as a challenge.The dedicated GaneshAll the main actors ' Ganesh, Ravichandaran and Neha Shetty ' gave their all to the film. We were shooting in Yellapur forest, and Ganesh got a call saying that his wife had given birth to their son. I told him to leave and be with his wife and newborn son, but since we had a crew of nearly 300 people deep in the forest, Ganesh chose to finish the day's shoot and left the next day, only because he didn't want the shoot disrupted because of him. You don't get to see such dedication. I was extremely touched and can never forget that incident.Lucky number nineShashank picked September 9 as the release date two months ago. And he has many reasons to do so. Mungaru Male 2 is Ganesh's 27th film (2+7=9); it is Ravichandaran's 90th film (9+0=9); September is the ninth month of the year and the year 2016 (2+0+1+6=9) also adds up to nine. But we might release it at a later date due to the impending bandh; it is more important for us to support the cause.
