Four years after it released, the line Yereg avye kiri kiri from the film Yekka Saka still sends people into peals of laughter and resounds strong among fans of Tulu cinema. It isn’t surprising then that the makers of an upcoming movie have chosen to name their project by the same tag line. “Yes, Yereg avye kiri kiri has a cult fan following in Tulunadu.
In fact, when we wrapped up our movie, we had about 11 titles in mind. But in the end, this felt apt given the way the story pans out,” explains Roshan, the production in-charge of the film. The film — which stars Naveen D Padil, Aravind Bolar, Shraddha Salian and Aishwarya Hegde, among others — involves the leading men, who are petty thieves, get framed in a mega
robbery case. “And their struggles are portrayed in the most comic manner which will make the audience sympathise with them and laugh at the same time,” adds Roshan. The film is directed by Bollywood action choreographer Ram Shetty and the music is composed by V Manohar. It’s shot in Kudla, Brahmavara and Udupi.
