Parvathamma Rajkumar - Kannada film producer, wife of the late legendary actor Dr Rajkumar, passed away at 4.40am at the hospital where she was battling for life over the last few weeks. Parvathamma had been admitted into the Intensive Care Unit of MS Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru on May 18 with kidney-related ailments and respiratory problems.
She was on ventilation support during her last few days before she died due to cancer.
Marking the unfortunate passing, the entire Kannada film industry has declared a day off in honour of Parvathamma who was one of the most strongest and most influential women producers the industry has seen. Cinema halls have been declared shut and some schools have been declared shut too.
Parvathamma's body has been shifted to the Rajkumar residence in Bengaluru. The body will be kept at Poornaprajna School Grounds at Sadashivanagar today for the public to pay homage, after which it will be burried at the Raj Samadhi, next to the grave of her late husband.
