It’s my body, my life. I don’t give a damn, says Rachita Ram
At a recent media interaction, actress Rachita Ram spoke openly about the growing culture of body shaming and negative comments on social media. Known for her frank opinions, the actor urged people, especially women, to stop letting online voices control their minds or self-worth.

You don’t owe anyone an explanation about why you look the way you do

‘Don’t let them mess with your heads’When asked how to deal with negative comments online, Rachita shared a rather simple answer. “Don’t. Don’t take the trouble. Don’t listen to any of that. Don’t mess your head with these comments. Just don’t give them space,” she added. When the issue of people taking extreme steps due to online trolling was brought up, Rachita questioned why negative comments are given so much importance. “Somebody will comment on something. Why should you pay attention to it?” she asked. She then acknowledged that not everyone reacts to negativity the same way. “Everybody’s capability to handle such things is different. Not everyone can stay calm,” she said, stressing that people shouldn’t feel pressured to respond or explain themselves.‘One must not justify their body to anyone’Sharing a personal experience, Rachita spoke about how sleep affects her body. “Some people need eight hours of sleep.
I belong to that category,” she said, adding that lack of rest makes her appear chubbier, especially in the mornings. “My director has even noticed it. In the morning, I look fuller, and as the day progresses, I appear thinner. If your body works that way, you can’t fight it,” she said. She mentioned that she finds the idea of constantly justifying one’s body deeply problematic. “Some people put on weight even if they diet and work out. Some have PCOS or PCOD. Some gain weight due to mental stress. Before and after periods, many women bloat. That doesn’t mean you owe anyone an explanation about why you look the way you do. Why should you explain your health conditions to anybody? Why should you answer to anyone?” she said.
