His maiden venture, the rustic Paruthiveeran brought him laurels and made him the darling of masses. With his second film, Aayirathil Oruvan, he has established a firm place for himself in the industry. And to top it all, the dubbed Telugu version of Aayirathil Oruvan, Yuganiki Okkadu, is running to packed houses in Andhra Pradesh and the film has been declared a superhit by the trade.
Lady luck surely seems to be shining on actor
Karthi.
Its great news. This is my first venture in Telugu and I am glad that Ive received an overwhelming response for the film. A lot of effort went into it and its good to see our hard work bearing fruit, he beams.
But did the mixed response for the Tamil version worry him? No, despite mixed reviews, the film is not a flop. Box-office wise, Aayirathil Oruvan is really doing well. I toured the entire state, including small towns, to promote the film and during the theatre rounds, I found that the audience was in awe of the film, says the actor.
Now, the icing on the cake is that Karthis 2007 superhit, Paruthiveeran, is also going to be dubbed in Telugu. Looks like Karthi is gaining a strong foothold in the state. I am planning to dub myself for the Telugu version. That gives it an originality, doesnt it?, he asks.
So, is Karthi planning to do straight Telugu films as well? I had received a few offers earlier and some are still pouring in. But, Im yet to decide, says the star. With his Paiyya also ready to hit the screens in both Tamil and Telugu, it looks like Karthis fan base in Andhra Pradesh is going to grow leaps and bounds. Great going, Karthi!
