Actress
Karunya Ram has been spending the lockdown by either painting or cooking. "The lockdown has restricted people to their homes, with limited physical activity. Yet, people have urges for eating something sweet. This is when healthy desserts that can be made with ingredients at home will work well," says Karunya.
The actress says the best way to eat healthy and have your sweets is by using jaggery and fruits.
Karunya, who is also fond of the prasad given at temples, tries to replicate temple-inspired cooking with limited recipes. She shares her favourite recipes with #QuickTakesWithBangaloreTimes...
Banana Rasayana
"This is one of my favourite desserts and I can eat it any number of times," says Karunya. For the recipe, she says:
Cut bananas into small pieces and place it in a mixing bowl. Add some grated coconut and jaggery. Next, add soaked puffed rice/avalakki/poha. Finally, add powdered cardamom and dry fruits and mix well. The temple prasad dessert is ready.
Fruit salad
"Fruit salad is the perfect way to finish a meal, especially since you'd always crave for that sweet end to it when you're indoors for so long," she says. Karunya has a very special home recipe for the same:
Put whatever fruits you like in a mixing bowl. Add some jaggery, honey, milk and grated coconut. Once you've mixed well, refrigerate and serve cold.
