Kichcha Sudeep to battle Indian chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand in a game of chess

Kichcha Sudeep's fans might just have a weekend treat lined up for them as Sandalwood's popular actor would be seen battling it out for Covid-19 relief. The actor would be seen not fighting screen bad boys but would be battling Indian chess grandmaster Viswanathan Anand in a game of chess. 'Checkmate COVID – Celebrity Edition' happening on June 13 starting 5 pm, will feature top Indian celebrities facing off against 5-Time World Champion Viswanathan Anand who would be seen trying to checkmate celebrities at a go in half-hour simultaneous games."The superstar from Karnataka who has dawned many hats will now face 5-time world champion Viswanathan Anand (@vishy64theking) in a chess match," reads the post introducing Kichcha in the celeb line-up.
Interestingly another big name that is making news is Bollywood actor Amir Khan who would also be seen playing the game against Viswanathan Anand. What makes the game unique is that the game comes with a social motive of generating funds for people fighting Covid-19. The Indian chess grandmaster would be seen playing simultaneous chess with batches of celebs.
"As we engage the chess community through this exciting event, we also ask each of you to donate towards a worthy cause that is close to our hearts – feeding hungry communities across India," reads a note about the event on the event website.
Chess.com is launching the event and is being held in association with The Akshaya Patra Foundation and according to the organisers, all proceeds of this event will go towards serving individuals and families who are at-risk of hunger through this devastating second wave of the pandemic.
