Actor Ragini Dwivedi’s career is on an upswing. Her latest role is that of a commando in pan-Indian film, Naanu Obba Bharathiya , directed by Babu Ganesh.
Ragini says, “My father had served in the Indian army, so it’s a role which is close to my heart. I am playing an undercover commando. I am involving my dad to get that authentic look and body language spot on. It is a female-oriented movie which touches the subject of border issues and security. A commando has no caste, creed or religion. We are trying to bring the feeling of oneness. The entire team is from Chennai. They are very creative and have kept me excited about the project.”

Ragini, who has begun training in martial arts, says: “Playing a commando on screen is tough and I am leaving no stone unturned to prepare. I'm picking up new skills from kickboxing, martial arts etc and will be training with guns to perform high-octane sequences, showcasing the resilience of a female commando and patriotism.”

Eyeing the record books
Director Babu Ganesh says, “We will shoot six hours for eight days to wrap the shoot, including songs and fights. We are planning everything immaculately and rehearsal sessions will be intense. We are making a new attempt and will be pitching it for the Limca Book of Records, Asia Book of Records and Guinness World Records. Even jury members will be visiting the set to place it on record.”
Ganesh adds, “The film is about national integration which touches upon the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) and explores terrorism and sleeper cells. It is a tribute to the Indian army.”
