Who was Kriti Kharbanda eager to work with?
Bangalore Times was the first to report about a sequel to actor-director Nagashekar's Sanju Weds Geetha being planned. The movie, unfortunately, did not take off due to various reasons. But Kriti Kharbanda, who had been roped in for the sequel, was very keen on working with Nagashekar. Little wonder, then, that she readily agreed to be a part of the filmmaker's current film Maasthi Gudi.

'I had my platter full towards the end of last year, so I hadn't signed any new films in Kannada. Then, Nagashekhar approached me with this film. I liked the role and the subject. Plus, I've known the kind of female characters he has in his films. So I agreed, even though I had to manage it with my debut films in two other industries,' she says. The actress adds that it is a challenging role for which she is currently shooting for in Hubballi.
Speaking about her choice of debuting in the Tamil and Hindi film industries now, she says, 'People have asked me why I had not tried Tamil or Hindi earlier. My debut there now is the best thing, as I've had a training ground in Kannada, but I get to start afresh in two industries, which means I can carry on longer as an actress. It wasn't planned, but I'm glad it worked out this way. I'd like to believe this is the best phase of my life. Earlier, I used to do films for visibility, but now I have the choice to wait for a good, challenging role.'
Kriti, who has played varied roles so far in Kannada and Telugu, says, 'As an actor, one needs to be like a plain canvas that can be moulded differently, rather than stick to an image. I've been fortunate to not have been typecast so far.'
