I went to his birthplace Porbandar and other places he had visited to get an in-depth perspective on his life. It was quite an inspiring journey, states Balakrishnan.
According to the director, the film revolves around the concept of the world needing Gandhiji today more than ever before.
The film begins at the time of partition and focusses on the troubles Gandhiji had undergone at that stage. It then moves on to the present day, where things have gone haywire. Its a speculation of how things would change, if Gandhiji decided to descend on the earth and chose to change society through Satyagraha and other non-violent means. Anupam Kher, who plays Siddharth, one of his ardent followers, soon becomes the Chief Minister of a model state. S Kanagaraja plays Gandhiji, adds he.
The shooting for the film is complete and is soon expected to hit the screens in November.
