Lucia poster: Copy or coincidence?

An independent filmmaker Bhargav Saikia, has accused the team of Kannada film Lucia of stealing the idea from the poster of his yet-to-be-released film to create one of Lucia’s posters. Bhargav, who’s has made a small budget film Kaafiron Ki Namaaz, claims that one of the posters of Lucia shares striking similarity to the poster of his film. Bhargav informs that the poster of his film was uploaded online in November 2012. “A friend recently shared the poster of Lucia on my social-networking page and that’s when I noticed the similarity. I expressed my dismay at finding the stark resemblance when I interacted with the director of Lucia, Pawan Kumar. However, Pawan told me that it’s a mere coincidence. I’m not saying it’s copied, but the striking features are difficult to ignore,” says Bhargav. Pawan, however, denied plagiarism charges against him and his team. “Bhargav felt we had stolen the idea and that’s when I told him that Adarsh, my designer, had conceived the idea of showing a face with a torch and people etched in them,” says Pawan. — Contributed by Madhu Daithota
