It’s crossed the ‘50-day’ run at the theatres and continues to still go strong. And, with this, Sudeep’s Maanikya makes it to the list of the year’s most successful ventures. However, what’s more interesting is the way Sudeep looks at the outcome of the film.
“The film changed the way people see some of us,” he says, referring to himself and his other lead actor V Ravichandaran.
“Ravi sir seems to have reached some sort of a divine status in the eyes of his fans and the audience at large. People have always looked up to him, but after this film, they look at him as some sort of a protector. That’s how convincingly he played his role as my father in the film. Ravi sir followed that up with his latest release Drishya, which adds to his aura,” explains Sudeep.
As for himself, Sudeep is currently on an unexpected break from actual shoot. “Maanikya was one of my most challenging films. So this is actually a welcome break after working on back-to-back schedules. I got some time off for a vacation with my daughter too. I had allotted dates to KS Ravikumar, who is now directing Rajinikanth. It is a change that I willingly made to my schedule. However, the next few films that I had signed up for do not start for a while. So I am considering working on yet another Telugu remake in the meanwhile. There is also the shoot for a television reality show that will begin shortly,” he says.
Maanikya, produced by Priya Sudeep, MN Kumar and Kolla Praveen, is currently running in theatres
