Olage Seridare Gundu gets a new avatar

Olage Seridare Gundu gets a new avatar
Back in 1989, the Kannada song Olage Seridare Gundu created quite a buzz, when Malashree was seen playing a drunk woman insulting her husband in the film Nanjundi Kalyana. And 24 years later, the song is ready to hit the screens yet again in another one of Malashree’s films — Gharshane. “But this time it’s going to be a remixed version,” says Malashree.

The actress, who will be essaying a role in a thriller-horror film for the first time with Gharshane, says that she was initially apprehensive when the film’s director Dayal Padmanabhan approached her with this idea. “I was reluctant to accept the idea of a remixed version of Olage… because it’s an evergreen song. I did not want to risk spoiling the original song, especially since I had no idea how it would sound with a genre as that of Gharshane. Dayal, though, took it as a challenge,” adds the action-heroine.
“It seemed odd that a song sung in a drunken state was remixed and made a fast-paced number, to be shot in Goa. The visuals did not seem right in my head. Nonetheless, I went to Goa and heard the song just before my shoot. I was shocked. I told Dayal that, ‘What was until now played in wine shops will soon start playing in discotheques, restaurants and parties,’” says Malashree.
The song will feature the actress in 6-7 avatars. Director Shankar Gowda will also feature in it.
